After the Mountebank Stage, by natural progressionof the show moving north to Marin California for the Fall run, my next stage was The Innyard Stage. Actually I may have started there up north, I certainly went right from Main Stage with Terry to Innyard the next show.

The Innyard had a smaller, and yet serviceable understage hang out area, and a fast-paced list of acts from about 10 am to 5 pm every day. We still ran by the Show Business rule...The show must go On! Fillers, extra acts, it was all part of getting that high speed train running and keeping it running. I always felt it wrecked the show when they moved to "mandatory breaks". The reason I was told was "for the audience". Hmph, the audience doesn'y know what they want...they just want it to be good. No steam, no train, no show.
One of those years the stage was fixed up quite a bit. Pal Sally Scneider the gifted designer who created much of the look of the heyday years panted me a special sign with George off to fight the dragon. It is essentially a mystical tale. The Innyard stage was a stage and ale-stand married together, and working with Don Mills was indeed an Honour and a Pleasure. I have never yet figured out how they do the shows without him, he was such a key person. A true gentleman, and very adept at being a supreme host.
