Ease
of construction, ready materials and speed are complemented with elegant functional
architecture.
This
early reference to domed structures in Italy, from the book
Shelter.
Shelter
built by Guerrero Farmworkers in a workshop by Nadir Khalili

in Hesperia.
Khalili
has combined his American architechtural background with a unique understanding
of Persian architecture. Observing the ingenious way that villages used domes
and wind scoops, and the disastrous results of the 1978 Iran earthquake, Nadir
had developed several styles of architecture using sandbags and barbed wire.
The bags are filled with sand, gravel, or anything like it. His house plans
are certified for California code and available at his site calearth.org. His
demonstration center is in Hesperia California near Los Angeles.
